Natural assumptions including an upgrade at cornerback and keeping what we have at WR, as well as keeping Grant and James
24. Clayton, LSU - we oughta be glad we got corner taken care of, because there's nothing there but Dunta, who they suddenly rate low.
A spot away from Dansby, though Donatarrious Thomas would have worked here as well. Clayton's the best fit and seems to always come up in my mocks.
58. Ben Troupe, TE, UF - Davis and Vilma going soon before this pick hurts. But since I've used each in the past, there's not as much positive speculation that comes from using them each time. Troupe becomes the best use situation for us, provided that we actually use him. Has enough size and is willing to become a top notch blocker, and of the two things, the Panthers have shown that it's a lot harder to make Mangum into Walls than vice versa.
89. Daryl Smith, LB, GT - hard pick to make. Smith has the leader mentality and toughness in a small frame, so he could fit inside if necessary. Long term starter should make immediate impact and start if needed. However, OTs Max Starks and Travelle Wharton, as well as RB Julius Jones, would have been considerations if they'd lasted.
120. Vontez Duff, CB/RS, ND - project pick. Some question if Duff can play in man coverage, and I do as well. Still, good size, speed, exceptional quickness, and good ball handling are assets here, as well as his return skills. He can take the heat off Smith and be a reserve defender as well; much better use of roster space than, say, Hampton. As well, could project to safety.
Also like Shawn Johnson, the raw DE from Delaware, a former Duke player who's got great technique and enough talent to be a solid backup/fill in at left end.
153. Pasha Jackson, LB< Oklahoma - potential steal. Active, athletic, just doesn't stand out in one area. Need to be able to get a better measure of his instincts since he was overshadowed by two other linebackers and a safety who were all over the ball, but stands a decent chance of starting in the rght situation, and will be a fine special teamer.
There are also numerous other names at this pick worth making, including a couple competitive QBs, a couple decent sized RBs, OTs, and some interesting safeties as well. Cant go wrong with a pick here.

Can play middle or strong side. Covers us if Morgan or Fields can pull there own next year at all, or for a limited time.

I know it is a dream, but a athletic pass catching TE with nothing but upside. NEED this, but need a new OC first.
120 (4) - Antonio Hall - OT
All I know about him is that he is better than this, and we could use some depth.
153 (5) - Richard Colclough - CB
185 (6) - Stanford Samuels - CB
I want us to get a FA starter. If we do, and don't bring back Howard and Cooper flies the Coop
, we could slide Wesley to FS, Branch to SS, and let these two polar opposites (RC is talent minus polish, SS is polish - talent) fight for #4 and #5 positions on the depth chart.
217 (7) - Josh Harris - QB
Peete will be gone, Wienke will be #2 and Harris locks onto one WR, has questionable arm strength, and wins games anyway. Sounds like our kind of guy.

I love Woods. I think he's the most complete receiver in the draft. He does everything right.
But pretty much every time I pick Clayton over him for the Panthers - I don't think they'll use Woods as well, and they'll look for a guy with speed and height to get after the deep balls they've pushed Moose to attempting. Therefore, Clayton.

And if you're torn at the last pick but don't have anything above that, just reach Never stopped Carolina. DeMarco McNeil isn't bad but kinda tells us what we don't want to know...Buckner's coming up lame lately, and that's a bad combination when you think of his age and his salary. I was surprised he got what he got, and noted so.

The hardest part to linebackers is figuring out who to put where. IMO with Dontarrious you have to move Will.
Props to taking Will Allen, too. Allen is great value there.
I think James Newson works as that Moose-like blocker who has enough skill and speed to make the crossing deep catch we like. That and a return guy later would fit great.
Nonetheless, Berrian as a backup receiver and return man could be really explosive as well.
