D'oh! Evans signs with Lions

I don't have a link because it was in the newspaper (The State). I thought that he had retired, but I guess not.

He played decent football for us. He was overpaid, ala Gilbert, but he played decent corner. He had a very good year in 2001 and right now we would probably kill for a corner who could approach the 19 PD's, 8 interceptions and 61 tackles he had that season. Would we want him back, hell no, but I just wanted to voice an opinion that we "was" a decent corner, just not a $6 mil a year corner.

But you're right. Evans had some very good play throughout his time here. Gave up too many big plays, but despite his money, and the fact we got a 2nd for Poole, turned out to be an overall positive for the franchise. It would have been really hard to get a positive for Gilbert after two #1s - one #1, the way we should have handled it if we had to do it - but he was nonetheless a failure as a player alone.

I was on his case all the time when he was here but part of me wonders what he could have done playing with our current front seven.
