agreeI don't see us keeping Lloyd with the new kickoff rules in place.
Strongly disagree. Not saying it wouldn't happen sometime later in the season, but a vet WILL be brought in, and will start opening day. Absolute worst case scenario its Matt Moore.I believe Newton will be the Day 1 starter.
Mainly because as of now one guy is more of a run stopper and the other is a pass rusher. You could flip flop them on the depth chart depending on the situation.Lastly, why wouldn't Fua slide over to the other DT spot? Is there that much of a drop-off between he and McClain or is there a huge difference between to two DT spots that I am ignorant of? Don't understand that one...
Why get rid of Smith and then sign a free agent WR who you plan to start? If Smith leaves let Lafell start. I am still hoping we keep him though.
The rumble is that Smith is dissatisfied. He doesn't have many years left and probably doesn't want to spend them with a cellar dweller. Add to that the fact that he has a big mouth and is likely to be critical of our QB play.
If we can get a pick next year, save some cap space, and go get more of a team player at WR it would be win/win.
Lafell might earn the spot, but lets not give it to him. A veteran with the proper demeanor could give Cam/Clausen/Moore/TBA a better shot of being successful than a 2nd year reciever who may not be consistent yet.
