He looked great last night. He actually out played Weinkie for the first time in preseason. Both still looked better than Peete. I wonder how many games into the season we will get before we make the change? Unfortunately I think we will have to lose a lot before it happens

I think, all equal as far as playing time and opponents, Delhomme took the first game too. Better deep passing, a couple more passes that were misfires because of interference, equal passer rating.

I think he knew he was in danger of losing the #2 spot, particuarly when Weinke played first. Jake responded.

He was perfect.

He showed all the things he can do. The deep ball, over the shoulder. Crossing routes into a tight space. Touch short. He hit guys in stride, accurrately.

And best of all, he made quick decisions and didn't hold the ball. He took charge.


Weinke played pretty well, the first series the best thing you can say is no mistakes under pressure. Looked like from the stands that Smith was open if he could have had a second more.

I'm happy with both Jake and Chris, and can see them as first and second string this time next year, easily.

Delhomme looked more like he was understanding the offense and just out there playing. I'm impressed Fox put Weinke out there to follow Peete. Not saying Delhomme was a whole lot better than Weinke, but the offense seemed to click better with him. It was too bad on the penalties while Weinke was out there, but that's how it goes.

I think Delhomme did plenty to keep his #2 spot. If Peete doesn't get the first team moving in the first half week 1, I can see Fox putting Delhomme out there, and Peete getting sucked back to #3 quicker than getting out of the draft at Daytona.

I wonder if Jake had really good preseasons at New Orleans and that is why the fans there liked him so much?

Jake should start. I wouldn't be surprised if he did.

I think Jake's outplayed Weinke in almost every preseason game just for the simple fact that in the Giants and Packers game, Jake got some drives going against 1st string defenses.

Piper is right. I rewatched the play with my Tivo. Smith was open the entire play. Weinke even had time to pump fake before he got clobbered.

Can't hold it against Wienkie that he got in the game later than Jake. I would be happier with either of them than I would Peete. I would just as soon we had started Weinkie last year. Maybe that way he would be a solid starter this year and we would have never needed to get Jake.

Jake is fine with me too but we are gonna see Peete.....

I don't understand why some say (not here) that Delhomme and Weinke have only got it done against second and third team defenses. well of course that is true, but they had to get it done with a second and third team offense too.
