I don't have Netflix, but I heard there was a beef about the subject matter. Something about putting kids out there as sexual objects or something like that.
Was that a NAMBLA production?
I try not to be a knee-jerk kind of guy. I prefer to investigate and draw my own conclusions. In this case, I didn't do my own investigation because the subject matter is too disturbing, I let my ex-wife do the dirty work. She watched it, and summed it up in a word--disgusting. Said it was worse than the reviews.
I can't believe that people are defending this movie. I actually had someone on my friends list ranting about people who were canceling Netflix over a right-wing conspiracy. Since when is pedophilia a right wing conspiracy? Shouldn't this be something that both folks on the right and folks on the left agree on?
I guess not. There are few things that would motivate me to actually shoot someone over, but this is decidedly on the list. I have a 12 year old girl and would end people for her without hesitation.
A big chunk of the mainstream media is defending this movie. That's revealing. It's always nice when you can get them defending pedophilia just to own the cons.
That being said, I just watched There Will Be Blood on Netflix last night.
I'm glad no one around here is defending it. Someone that I have very occasionally cycled with defended it on Facebook, calling the outcry some right-wing overreactions and claiming that QAnon (whatever that really is) was behind it. She hadn't even seen it for herself, but like a lot of the left she was just echoing the narrative passed down by the media. In my book, that makes her a bad person. How can anyone with love in their heart defend this stuff?
For what it's worth, I'm very much against this movie and think Netflix should pay a HUGE penalty for streaming it. If that makes me a racist white supremacist nationalist fascist member of QAnon, I'll wear that badge with pride because the alternative has no soul.
