Without question, indisputably, no way you can convince me otherwise, easily and without question the greatest sounding field recordings in the history of the planet were made at Grateful Dead concerts. If the link you posted is your idea of a high quality field recording, I can provide you with some other points of reference.

Beyond the field recordings, Owsley Stanley, Betty Cantor, and Dan Healy made several hundred extremely high fidelity live to 2 track mixdowns.
