That knee injury ended it for him, maybe he could make a camp somewhere next offseason but I doubt he'll ever be a contributor.

Sucks. If I remember the Texans were pretty excited about him for a while. That injury just destroyed his career unfortunately. Nothing gained nothing lost from our point of view though. This isn't Rashard Butler.

Former Texans offensive lineman Charles Spencer was placed on waivers today by the Carolina Panthers.

The Texans waived Spencer on July 22, and the Panthers claimed him. They played him at right tackle.

Spencer missed a lot of practice time with the Panthers because he wasn't in good enough physical condition. He hasn't been able to return 100 percent from the broken leg he suffered in the second game of 2006, his rookie season.

"It had nothing to do with his knee," coach John Fox told Carolina reporters today. "His knee's fine. It had more to do with conditioning, weight and rust."

Spencer, the first pick in the third round of the 2006 draft, can be claimed on waivers again. If he's not, he'll become a free agent who can sign with any team.

The Panthers have filled the roster spot cleared by waiving Charles Spencer, by signing the guy they waived to make room for him.

The Panthers brought back T Rueben Riley, who spent last year on the practice squad and the entire offseason here.

You may now go back to your regularly scheduled lives.
