John (North Carolina): How are the trio from UNC playing? Do you think any of them will return to school?

Chad Ford: (1:33 PM ET ) Ty Lawson played well in his first game match-up with Lester Hudson. He didn't play today ... still waiting to find out why. Not sure if he's injured or just shut it down after a solid first day performance. Wayne Ellington was awful on Wednesday and played better today. Danny Green struggled on Wednesday. I think Ellington and Green should definitely go back. As for Lawson, he's a bubble first rounder. Tough call though i think he should probably return to UNC, try to win a national championshp and then re-enter the draft next year when the talent pool isn't nearly as high

Ends up that Ty suffered a hip pointer and probably won't play anymore this week.

I figured three heels would try and turn pro this year, never imagined one might be Danny Green. It's still shocking, I know he played well down the stretch, especially the dook game, but wow. He's not that good, definitely not pro material yet. He's an athlete and I guess that's all it takes, but I see NBDL all over his game.

As a Tarheel fan I can say without reservation Danny Green better get his ass back to college as his game is NO WHERE near ready for the pros. I am not sure if he will be ready even after next year

He did improve a lot, but not that much. He could really benefit with another year in college.

Wayne is having a bad camp. He had one standout game where he scored 17 points, but was 0-3 from the 3 point line. Ty has another hip pointer and isn't playing and now Danny has a bruised elbow and isn't playing, either. (He had a bad ankle coming into camp.) They want to play in the NBA, so it's not a problem for them to be trying it out at camp, but it's been a bit of a nightmare for them. They should probably all 3 come back next year, but Danny seems hellbent on going to the NBA this year and Lawson seems like he thinks he'll get his top 20 pick.
The daily games and commentary are on ESPNU in the evenings.
