anyone still working with these? I remember overclocking 300s a couple years back, read where you can buy 2GHz+ for under $70. Never figured the Athlon and Celeron lines would be competing...similar value.

The AMD Duron competes with the Celeries and blows them out. Check the benchmarks...

celeron is nothing like the athlon. It doesn't have internal cache and depends on ram cache which is slower. If you do number crunching or 3d graphics the difference is way noticable. For word processing with no graphics you would never notice a difference. A fast hard drive is more important in that case.

I saw the benchmarks on Anand after I posted. D'oh. A total whipping, Athlon/Celeron.

And yeah, I have an athlon in my personal rig
