I am probably the last American without a CD player in their vehicle. I am going out this weekend and getting me one that is XM ready. The in dash models are few and far between that have the tuner built in. So far I have found 1 and it is 349.00. i believe it's a Sony. Is there any make or model that folks have had bad luck with? My Ranger limits the number of models it will hold. I believe Best Buy has like 4 they install, not that I am going there. I am thinking about buying from Crutchfields and installing it myself. The XM tuner is like $49.00 and then any XM ready radio will do. Suggestions?

Paul, I don't know much about XM, but which unit do you have? Is it already built into your regular tuner or is it a plug and play unit? With an XM ready head unit, you won't be able to scroll through the channels and see which band and song are playing. Those are money features to have which is why I prefer the separate sirius unit.

Currently I have the XM SkyFi. It runs thru the indash (stock) radio. A friend just got a new truck (Chevy full size) that has the radio with built in XM tuner so he sees the song title etc... So your telling me a XM ready radio with the seperate XM tuner (usually mounted under seat or under dash) will not let me see what the artist and song are? I don't want to have to plunk down $349 bills to have it all in one if I can help it
