Brezynski

Nelson has looked better. Even when we signed Bryz - I noticed the guy never started for Phily either.

Bryz is a backup type. Nelson looked fairly good in preseason but I don't expect that he'll ever dominate good starting DL. He could be a good tech type though and start when needed.

You can get a good tech type in an undrafted rookie.

I want LeCharles fuckin' Bentley.

Mag - I dunno if willig was active. Just know that Brez was a scratch.

I notice Siedman hasn't done much, either.

Agreed about drafting a guard, Meat. I have yet to see anything that makes me believe Nelson will be anything other than a backup center. Considering how much we run between the tackles, we need some serious meat-eaters at both G positions. James is coming along, but Donnalley's becoming a liability. Lots of dropoff from last year, IMO.

Seidman came in on some 2TE sets last week, but I didn't see JD throwing to him at all, nor could I tell how well he was blocking. If Mangum's going to start, I'd like to see him shifted to the blind side in 2TE sets and let Seidman be the outlet receiver.

That is, until he takes Mangum's job. :)

Yeah, you can get good guards in some later rounds. Second isn't great guard value, especially for a converted center.

For instance,

Guards that would probably have been better?
Other than Manuwai, Taylor Whitley went in the 3rd, a decent road grater type without tons of athleticism but with ability to pull and block inline as well; MOntrae Holland was a bit of a boom or bust guy, but more talented than most guards taken; Ben Sobieski, who's no less of a guard than his teammate Nelson IMO; Tackle/guard types for depth? Steve Scuillo, the massive guy from Auburn; Scott Tercero, Cal;Brett WIlliams, Tony Pashos were both extremely strong; Jeremy Bridges, Makoa Freitas. All guys I think could do as well as Nelson right now.

But then again, backup center wouldn't be filled, and you know you always want to think backup center when you're starting a guard.

Seidman looked allright in preseason. Right now he's probably our best receiver at the position. Mangum has done OK, I guess. Wiggins is mistake-prone but used to be a decent receiver. I expect Seidman to come out smoking next year, though.
