Braves Bullpen for 2007

After picking up Mike Gonzalez to go along with Bob Wickman and Rafael Soriano the Braves seem to have a hell of a bullpen lined up. My question is are they gonna be able to score any runs for this pen to protect a lead?

I'm wondering the same thing. The Braves could make a deal for a bat before the season starts. They still need a leadoff hitter. The Jones boys better have big years at the plate.

They finished second in the league in runs last season, and I really doubt there will be all that much difference between what LaRoche does in Pittsburgh and what Thorman/Wilson will do in Atlanta.

I hope not... I'd like to see the Braves stick it to the Mets this year. Always seems that if they have the pitching they don't get the hitting and vice versa. Could be I'm a biased Braves fan and that's what I see

The Mets and Phillies would be hard to beat regardless, but I think this move improves Atlanta's chances to compete for a wild card spot.

Andruw is in a contract year. I have read some articles that say he could approach 60 HR's this year. Of course that will mean this is his last in Atlanta. Second base could be a good battle in spring training between Kelly Johnson, Willy Aybar, and Martin Prado.

Word is Aybar has the biggest upside. It's possible that the Braves may talk to Baltimore again about Brian Roberts. A deal to get him was nearly done before Oriole owner Peter Angelos stepped in and stopped the trade.

That offer involved Marcus Giles. Regardless, Roberts isn't going anywhere. Also, Andruw isn't coming anywhere near 60 home runs.

Roberts would be great but that ain't happening (and the Orioles would be crazy to think it). I hope the farm system has a few hitters in it to step up this year. While we're at it, I'd like to see Francoeur learn that a BB isn't the worse thing in the world and a little patience at the plate can be a good thing. Who am I kidding.. he'll be swinging from the heels at pitches a foot outside just like always

With the Braves adding arms to the bullpen, I'm wondering about the future of Joey Devine. He has a lot of potential. Will he become trade bait or is he Wickman's replacement as closer.
