And did anyone see Moorehead out there today? Why was Carstens out there for Jenks instead of Kindal? Is it because they knew the Saints wanted to pound it and though Cartens gave them more run stuffing that Kindal? I may have missed him, but I dont think I saw him once.

And, how long is Smitty gonna last throwing around his body like that?

To answer, Jenks blew several plays up. The play he got hurt on he got penetration, he tried to make a tackle and hyperextended the knee.


After that, we never got any penetration.

Not only did Moorehead go inactive, but Haye did, too. So you had literally 3 DTs and one got hurt.

Carstens wasn't piss poor, but he was average. He runs around and doesn't get a ton done. I'll credit him for a PD, which the stats don't show, but hell, Stallworth caught the damn ball anyway (or was it Horn? Mixon kept fucking that up).

I'm figuring the had Moorhead inactive because of numbers. They figured somewhere else on the roster they needed ST help or something, or possibly LB with Short having missed time. The decision to go with Carstens may have been to ease Buckners workload. I think they had a plan last year to start reducing his snaps, keep him fresh. Injuries dictated otherswise. I think they planned to do the same this year. Hence, if they counted on Jenks getting the majority of the snaps at his position, Carstens would be the guy to spell Brentson. If they had known we werent gonna have Jenks most of the game, then I would be really surprised if Moorehead was inactive. For those with the technical knowledge, is Carstens better suited to backup Buckner and likewise Moorehead better suited for Jenks' spot? We could use a healthy Shane Burton right about now. Just speculating here. If Jenks is out for a while (a few weeks), who do they go to? Bring up Ellison? Probably not. Stick with Moorehead and Cartens? Omari Jordan maybe? Lorenzo Alexander? Shit, isnt Norman Hand out there?

Only thing that irritates me as that both Moorehead and Carstens are game tested. Moorehead wasnt a practice warrior last year either. Carstens was. BUt during games, Moorehead is proven. Carstens will always be an average hustle guy with a lack of penetration, and an extremely ineffective two gap defender.
