Bears | QB Notes - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
5:27 PT: The Chicago Tribune reports Chicago Bears GM Jerry Angelo may be interested in pursuing soon-to-be Tampa Bay free agent QB Shaun King. Angelo drafted King when he first entered the NFL, while Angelo worked with the Buccaneers. Other reports have Angelo interested in potential Arizona Cardinals free agent QB Jake Plummer.

PLEEEEEAAASE!!! God PLLEEAAASSSEE!!!if they take King and Plummer resigns in AZ Leftwich drops to us.

Your thread made me think of something. Other than the Kordell rumor Dan Marino reported towards the end of the season, about him being a potential for the Panthers, and the report about Rodney's agent still wanting a contract for him, I've read very little other player related rumors for the Panthers.

I mean, it seems like FOX would already know which if any QBs he is going to keep. Seems like they would be looking towards grabbing at least one Vet out there, even if they do draft a QB first. I really thought we would hear about one of our QBs being cut or let go by now.

Or are they just going to wait until close to draft to keep other teams guessing???

It's January, Sandy.

FA does not begin until March. It's called keeping our options open. This is the time we are evaluating all our options, including the draft. It's best not to tip our hand.

My guess is if we try and keep Peete, we will make a simple offer in February. We can sign our own then.

Of course, Fox did talk to 3 QBs at the Senior Bowl. So I imagine he's looking at both.

There's no reason to let any QBs go right now. And because of the better cap, I doubt they'll let anyone go until it's necessary.

Do you think we could miss out on a good vet by waiting too long?

Thanks Wiper, that was what I was thinking there at the end. Guess I'm just excited. While most everyone has their own opinion about what our offense needs, we all share one common ground - it needs. - I am ready to see the changes, whatever they may be.

It's January. We have over a month.

Plus, no one said we can't sign Delhomme, one of the rumors you missed, or King, or Plummer, or George Blanda, or whoever, without cutting another player.

I don't know the cap situation for each contract but for some teams, it may be better to wait until June to cut them so they can spread the cap hit over two years...

we can't sign anyone's free agents until the end of the season, which is Feb. 28th officially...we can still re-sign our own though. I'm pretty sure this is correct info, but I'm sure someone can verify.
