6 year deal details to follow. Question is does anyone here give a rats ass?

I don't think it's signed. Bass apparently was offered Odom and 8th and 12th and didn't accept (pre draft). The Clips got two power forwards at 8 and 12 and that is NOT something the Hornets need, so it's not gonna that deal. My guess is the Clips are going after Andre Miller at this point.

Baron may not sign and wait for his free agency, but he'd STILL be a restricted free agent, which means the Hornets could still keep him if they wanted to.

We'll see...

Unless the deal was signed last night or early this morning, it's only the Hornets offer. Davis has said he has no interest in going to New Orleans and may be trying to force a trade.

Maybe the Whorenets already knew that Baron wasn't going to stay so they threw that offer out there. Would be nothing worse than to walk into a new city and not sign the star. Let's face it...this brain trust has never been one to go out of their way to spend money. If Davis walks, they don't have to pay a dime, but they have made it look like they tried to keep him. They can use that as spin to keep themselves from looking like the cheap bastards they are. They know that Baron has no interest what so ever in staying. Even if he signs it, I think it will be a sign and trade. They once again can approach the fans and say..."We tried everything, but Baron just didn't want to stay. Now look at these new beads we got for him."

I don't think that the "brain trust" is worried that Baron isn't going to stay, seeing as he's not a free agent or anything. He's in the last year of his rookie contract. After this year, he becomes a restricted free agent -- basically, the Hornets can match any offer and are able to offer more than any other team (aside from cap considerations). Certainly he may be disgruntled, but the Hornets do hold the cards here.

To a certain extent you're right on this one Nut. He still doesn't have to sign the deal though. If it becomes apparent he's not going to sign, they'll deal him instead of getting nothing for him in two years.
