Well between injuries, poor off season decisions, and just bad luck we are staring at the number one pick, no second round selection and a whole new coaching staff. Time to decide what positions are strengths, and what need improvements.

QB
Is Clausen the long term answer? Pike? Does Moore stay?

RB
DeAngelo, Stewert? Isn't this DeAngelos contract year?

OL
Not resigning Vincent in hindsite doesn't look like the right decision. Losing Otah was a HUGE hit

Receivers
Smith hasn't been a factor due to inconsistant QB play. Trade him for picks? LaFel and Gettis look like they could grow into decent receivers.

DL
IMO Everette Brown was a reach and hasn't really done anything to warrented trading a 1st for. Charles Johnson took a few years but seems servicable. DT still looks like a need to me

LB
Still a team strength to me. Hoping we can resign Thomas Davis and keep him healthy. Beason plays hard even when the rest of the team doesn't

DB
Not the biggest Gamble fan and IMO doesn't earn the money he is making.

With a rookie salary cap hopefully on the horizon it seems like teams would be more inclined to want to trade up and get the number one pick unless the new coaching regime develops some man love for 1 particular QB. Colt McCoy slid down last years draft and looks like a keeper in Cleveland. Could we grab a QB in rd three and draft a monster DT in a top ten position after trading down and recouping a 2nd round pick if not more? Do we stand pat counting on Otah and Davis to get healthy.

QB - we need to sign a veteran QB who can play now and let Clausen sit and learn. I am not confident that he will ever be a solid starter but he certainly is not ready to be one right now.

RB - let DW walk. He has finished the last two seasons on IR. Not a good sign for a running back reaching the end of his rookie deal. Stewart and Goodson look solid to me.

WR - keep Smith, he still has a lot to offer, this year has just been horrible all the way around. Gettis looks like a steal. Lafell seems like a keeper too.

TE - depending on the new offense TE might be a need. If we really want to throw to the TE then we may need a new guy. I am curious to see what Rosario could do if he got a decent amount of targets.

OL - Gross and Wharton are still solid. Kalil is too and we need to keep him. RG is a mess, we need a guy here. Otah is great if he can ever get healthy again. We need a better back up plan if he is not able to go next year.

DE - Johnson is solid, the other guys are question marks. Could use a player here but not a super need area.

DT - could use some help here for sure, if we keep Meeks though we can cover it up.

LB - solid here, Anderson and Davis at OLB would be sweet if we can bring Davis back and think he is going to be healthy. Beason is better inside but Connor can definitely play.

CB - Good but not great here. Marshall probably leaves. Could use a player here.

S - pretty good shape for cover corners. If we keep the same scheme we should be OK.

I would find a mid level veteran QB who has experience in whatever offense we run next year then draft the best OL, DT or Corner we can find.

If I think there is a franchise QB on the board though I throw this all out the window and take him. You have to hope you are getting Peyton Manning and not Ryan Leaf.....
