There are no sure-fire franchise quarterbacks, just some with lots of potential to develop into them. Remember when Sam Howell was in conversations for being the top pick? Spencer Rattler? Hell, I remember people talking up Brock Purdy after his first year as a starter, and he was Mr. Irrelevant this year. Put Tom Brady's brain in either Darnold or Corral, and you have a HOF career.
I like the Corral pick for no other reason that if we do shit the bed again, at least we won't have to discuss extending Sam or Baker or whoever just so we can have a QB for 2023. If we're picking high next year, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Fitterer roll the dice on another QB, and he will keep doing it until one hits. In the meantime, we have a solid defense, talent on the line, and decent skill positions. It seems painfully slow, but the rebuild is almost there.
