Even if they aren't there's no reason to think they still can't go a long way. At this point they're 5-2. The next few games consist of @ Tampa Bay a team that has lost their QB and looked bad vs San Fran., and really haven't beaten a lot of names themselves. Then they host the Jets, who really haven't done much this season. After that they go to Chicago, who may win their division, and have a good Defense, but have absolutely no offense. They then travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills who's offense has improved now that Losman was benched, but their defense has regressed with the loss of Takeo Spikes. I know any of those teams could win on any given Sunday, but its not unrealistic to think there's a chance the team could be 9-2 before hosting Atlanta on December 4th, but knowing them they'll probably blow a couple wins due to stupid mistakes.

The N.O. loss hurts us in tiebreakers rightr now but no one in the NFC has a better record than 5-2. We're right there.

We weren't "FOR REAL" until we beat Dallas in the playoffs in 2003, since none of our 11 wins that year were against teams with winning records.

The regular season is nothing more than qualifying. You jockey for position, and take what's yours after 16 games.

We won't know if we are "FOR REAL" unless we are holding this at the end of the year:

I think our defense has played more like it is for real the past two games. We got pressure on the QB both games. I think we are as for real as anyone in the NFC. If we get some other receviers involved to take some of the load off Smith and get our running game going then we will be the best team in the NFC.

Yeah.

As 'real' as anyone in the NFC. For real, at the moment, we are 5-2, good for tied for 1st in the South and the entire NFC. FWIW, 3 of the top 5-2 teams (tied for first in NFC) are in the south. So anybody who thinks there's a better overall division in the NFC, is strictly a homer of another division. The east is about equal to the south at the moment. The Giants look very good right now, unexpectedly, and philly looks worse than expected. I thought dallas would be good, and they are better than expected.

One thing about the south is there have been very few (the least in NFC) interdivisional games. I don't know what this means, but our division should start sorting itself out in the near future with some of these games on tap.

But, like the east right now, our division will be pounding each other in the near future. Even the worst team in our division, the Ain'ts, while not really all that good, still has the potential to beat any other team in our division. Man, that game against us really is a bad blemish right now, and for the year possibly.
