Apparent injury ends Pacman's first workout

By JIM WYATT
Staff Writer

All eyes were on the Titans' first-round draft pick Adam ''Pacman'' Jones yesterday as the team's rookies took the field for the first time.

But the cornerback wasn't on the field long — about 25 minutes.

Jones appeared to injure himself during individual drills at the beginning of practice and left with trainer Don Moseley. He later returned, but did not participate the rest of the way. He was seen with an icebag in the groin/upper leg area.

So what was Jones' injury? Well, the Titans actually never admitted he sustained one, though Jones appeared to be having some discomfort as he left the field.

After practice, Pacman chewed the questions up and spit them out.

''Coach just took me out of drills a little bit early,'' Jones explained.

What did you do to yourself?

''I'm all right.''

Did you tweak a hammy?

''I'm all right.''

Calf?

''I'm all right.''

Jones said he's ''not worried at all'' and vowed to be on the field when the Titans rookies practice again today before leaving town at the end of the two-day orientation.

The rookies also practiced once earlier in the day.

Jones, outfitted in jersey No. 32, is expected to return May 16, when all the rookies will be joined on the field with the veterans.

Between now and then he said he plans to work on every aspect of his game, from studying the playbook to backpedaling, to running and everything else.

As long as he isn't hurt, that is.

''I had a great practice this morning. I went through everything,'' Jones said. ''I will be up to speed when the veterans get here.''

prob forgot his jock and got hit in the nuts

Wasn't he the one who said in his draft interview that he planned to pick up Tennessee's bump-and-run defense in "a week or two"?
