Any chance...

Yes. I believe they will.

Here’s the thing: if they make that signing, it’s a half year deal—otherwise, Newton is all but guaranteed to be somewhere else in 2020. There’s no way those two egos coexist in the same quarterback room. And the financials wouldn’t make a damn bit of sense.

I’ve confronted this this topic with Panthers fans today on Twitter. Just trying to educate folks that if you make an impulsive buy on Kaepernick right now, the same quarterback you’ve fawned over for a decade is out. Kaepernick is not coming to a team for a half a season without any guarantees of something more. And I’m not entirely certain he’s an upgrade for a half a season.

The entire thing is a cluster fuck. I don’t know, probably be best just to send somebody down. Never hurts to have eyes on it. Hell, the patriots are doing it.

I don’t like the fact that any player is able to just walk into Tepper’s office to make roster suggestions. It also undermines the current QB. And, Newton.

Typically, players would go to a general manager for this type of conversation. This just speaks to what the structure might look like over there, and honestly, I don’t really dig it.

Reid has already turned out to be an egregiously bad publicity stunt by Tepper. If we double back and sign Kaepernick, I'd have a lot of trouble sticking by this team. Not because I'm triggered by the politics, but because it's proof positive that this team isn't focused on winning games. It would be a waste of my time.

It’s not even worth talking about anymore. I spent way too much time yesterday working myself up over it. He played like absolute dog shit on Sunday. That’s all that matters. This stupid ass, one gap defense.
