Dolphins release starting safety Antuan Edwards

The Dolphins cut starting safety Antuan Edwards after practice Wednesday, marking the first of what could be several roster moves under new head coach Jim Bates.

Edwards has started eight games this season and is sixth on the team with 45 tackles. The Dolphins are expected to use the roster spot for younger players, including practice squad players.

Edwards was told the team plans to go with younger players in certain position, according to NFL sources. Edwards, only 27 years old, was in his first season with the Dolphins after playing three years with Green Bay.

Yep. We just signed another DB who looks like a STs guy. I'd really like to have Edwards. I suspect he isnt very good anymore, but he might allow the other players to develop better if everything isn't chaos back there.
