The people who measure life by personal wealth and "privilege" are evil assholes. This guy had both and it didn't save him. People need meaning more than they need happiness, and meaning isn't a physical destination.

Meaning in life is missing. We are too smart to believe in magical ghost stories written by bronze age goat herders. Sorry Shapiro. But we haven't replaced it with anything equivalent either. Somehow, we need the social effect of religion without the religion.
Either that, or life actually has no meaning and we need to adjust to that accordingly. Which might include suicide as a regular choice once people get bored.

Then why vote or advocate any political position? You Bernie fans clealy believe in causes. Why? If nothing matters, why not just do what you postulate in the above post? Everyone just live for the moment, don't vote, and take your life whenever you please.

I'm not a Bernie fan, Trump nuthugger. And for hundreds, even a couple thousand years, religion has given western humans the meaning to their lives. You don't need to mention it for that to be true.
