Unless Goodell gives him a pass for time served, if he's convicted by a jury then Hardy will miss six games next season because the NFL says that the exempt list is not their punishment.

I haven't found or really looked for the new Personal conduct particulars yet. Forget Hardy for a sec as he is going to be someone elses issue next year Peterson was on the commissioners exempt list all year (minus the first game) He was suspended, union balked so they put in exempt list getting paid since week two while appeal went through. That's been settled. He is suspended and can't apply until April. I am assuming he is NOW losing game checks (3). Is that going to be it? I can't remember what the league did at first and will that continue on. I wonder if the league can now use the personal conduct rules on him, Hardy and Rice. Rice already lost money, Hardy and Peterson haven't

Hardy will be suspended today

As has already been explained, Hardy cannot be suspended until the legal process plays out. It has been reported that the team and Hardy are discussing putting him on the "exempt/commissioner's permission list," which is not a suspension, but would remove him from the active roster while still getting paid. Hardy has to agree to it or it can't happen.

Peterson was not suspended until after he pleaded no contest. The exempt list is not a suspension.

The NFL pretty much told the NFLPA to go sit in the corner while the grownups handle the situation.
