Easy, kickass C&D:
Cook a whole chicken in a big, heavy pot in a lot of water seasoned with salt and pepper until the meat is practically falling off the bones. Cool the chicken IN the broth. (very important--makes the broth a lot richer). Remove chicken, take the meat off the bones, and set aside. Strain anything icky out of the broth, then bring it to a boil. Throw in a couple pinches of thyme. Open a couple of boxes of Anne's frozen dumplings (red and yellow box)and drop the dumplings one or two at the time into the broth. You may need to add a little additional water or chicken broth to the pot as you go along--just make sure it's hot. Turn heat down a little and stir a lot as they will want to stick and/or scorch if you're not careful. When the dumplings are almost done, throw in the chicken. Check seasoning and add S&P if needed. When dumplings are totally done, turn the heat wayyy down and stir in a little heavy cream. Pure heaven!
