    Carolina Panthers - Everyone and their mother lined up to name the Panthers NFC favorites going into next year, which explains why so many backed off from making similar claims this year. But QB Jake Delhomme answered all his critics with a superb three-touchdown game, highlighted by a 68-yard bomb to WR Steve Smith. If head coach John Fox has indeed fixed the problems that plagued his once-feared defense last year -and holding the Rams' Steven Jackson to 58 yards on 18 attempts certainly suggest so - then this team can definitely make some waves in the NFC.

    It'll be interesting to see how much the bandwagon has filled by the BYE week. We should be in really good shape by then.

    But lotsa QB's were chucking it deep yesterday. Quite a few 3TD-4TD QB's out there week one. I'll chalk that up to it being week 1 for now.:judge:

    It scares me when the national media starts sniffing our jocks again as Super Bowl contenders. I realize the NFC is wide open but I want to see 3-4 games in a row of the effort we saw yesterday before we heap love on them
