2008 NFL QB Draft Class

Flacco is actually playing like shit, his team is winning in spite of him. Ryan has been as good as any rookie quarterback except Roethlisberger. I don't see any of these guys going on to become superstars, though.

I think Flacco will work out eventually though. He has the tools to do it. Of course, Ryan Leaf had the tools too and we saw how that worked out. Still, if he just turns out a to be decent that a huge step up in the position for the Ravens.

I agree that Flacco should be solid in time, but forcing him into the lineup as a rookie was unwise and will end up costing them.

Coming into last night's game, the Ravens led the league in rushing attempts but averaged less than four yards per carry. Yet Flacco had similar numbers to Ryan.

Not sure they had much of a choice. I memory serves, both Boller and Troy Smith were hurting at the beginning of the season. Smith was only healthy enough to take the #2 spot four weeks ago, and of course Boller was IR'ed. They had to scramble to pick up Bouman off the street.

And he's not been god awful (81.3 rating). Better than vets like Garrard, Ferrotte, and Bulger. If not for Ryan, we'd be saying more about how he's been pretty good for a rookie.

I think they've done a lot to protect him though, it's not like Carr, Harrington or countless others getting thrown out there.

Big Ben proved what you can do with a rookie QB. It is no longer a given that a rookie QB can not succeed. If he has enough help around him and is not asked to do too much he has a chance. Most of the time it is a bad idea though. The most talented QBs usually go to the worst teams. Teams like the Steelers and Ravens getting top QBs in the draft is rare.

From the games I've watched, that rating is misleading. He's been lucky to avoid some interceptions, he's not been accurate, and his big plays have generally been to wide ass open receivers.
