2 questions

1. When I try to power up my laptop, the hard drive spins, and then it stops, and nothing comes on. It keeps trying, but it wont completely come on. I dont get any display whatsoever.

2. Where I am staying now, the guy uses a Linksys router. My laptop before it messed up, kept losing connection. I installed firmware into the router, but it was the wrong version of firmware. I have another router, (linksys) and I can't get it to work with my bosses wireless card, also Linksys.

My luck as of late is not good. Any help to fixing my bosses stuff is greatly apreciated. I had to move in with him, b/c of my accident, and then this happends.

Go into bios and disable the wireless stuff and see if the computer will start. Then go from there. Sounds like there is boot error making the boot cycle stop. If you had any hardware active in bios that is no longer connected that can cause problems. But the first thing to do is to get the computer to start without wireless then add that stuff back. If the linksys was security encripted and you haven't changed the pass word to the new system, the computer won't see the new system.

Also if you're not even getting the machine startup screens try plugging a monitor into the back, maybe the screen has quit. If a monitor won't display the boot screens either then the video is dead, that will stop the boot cycle. turn up the speakers and count any beeps those will tell you what portion of the boot cycle is causing the problems.

when I plugged a monitor in there, it didn't work. It spins, but I get no display. As bad as this sounds, I used to be able to slap the back of the laptop, and it would kick on.

Oh if you've got built in wireless, you can go into the bios setup and disable it so that it doesn't look for any drivers, but if you can't even see the boot screen I would say the video section of you motherboard is gone. I hope you bought the extended warantee.

one more thing that you can try shine a flash lite on the screen pointing up from the bottom and see if you can see an characters on the lcd. It may be just the back light died, but if a monitor didn't show the boot screen either probably the video card section is dead.

no, as far as the wireless goes, thats all a card through linksys. thats another situation....my laptop is the one where i can't boot it up w/ no visual. i dont have a warrant w/ it.

i wonder if it's power related... you could try swapping batteries or something. even if you're running on ac, it may need a good battery to hold a charge or something... just a guess.

ive changed in 2 batteries, and ac....it doesn't quit, just dont get a display.
