I think Schottenheimer's 2001 skins did something similar - but it was 0-5 start, and they finished 8-8 I believe.

yep. That's why you never fire a coach based on what you feel like you might be able to get, you fire a coach based on what his performance had been and whether the team believed in what he was doing. They believed in him.
