I wouldn't mind him. He could play the Y, taking up some of Seidman's snaps, allowing Mangum and King to play more of the FB/H-back role. Problem is, though, we're apparently activating 2 right now as it is, so two inactive TEs on a team that has 10 OL rostered, is a little heavy.

But overall, would I take him? yeah, I think he could be a goal asset that the guys we have right now aren't. Our guys can do allright getting open v/s zone in short space, but while Mangum has a good awareness for where he needs to be (regardless of the route) he and Gaines aren't physical enough to make anything happen at goal. Hilton's better there, and while he doesn't have any more speed than they do and wouldn't be a better overall receiving threat, I think he could be a short asset, certainly may be a better blocker than anyone else we have, and would also provide an asset as a FG blocker with his size and reach. He's not currently a good enough blocker, given his height and most likely still his strength, but I believe we could provide some tweaking there to at least make him a good enough control blocker.

He's a first down machine who can also block decently.

He's nothing more than what we got, never will be IMO, and he doesn't know the system.
