Okay what do you think would be an ideal lineup. And explain how you acquired your picks. This is totally hypothetical... so you have some freedom... just within reason.

    Offense:
QB - Jake Delhomme (free agent)
RB - Stephen Davis (free agent)
    FB - Brad Hoover
WR - Mushin Muhammed (hopefully takes a paycut)
WR - Andre Johnson (drafted #7 overall after a trade with Minn.)
TE - Dallas Clark (Drafted with second round pick *assuming his slips to us)
LT - Todd Steussie (hopefully takes a pay cut)
LG - Jamar Nesbit/Kevin Donally (decided who starts via training camp)
    C - Jeff Mitchell
RG - Mo Collins (takes a little less $ than other team is offering to come home)
RT - Blake Brockermeyer (cheap and temporary but solid for a year or 2)

    Defense:
    LE - Julius Peppers
    DT - Brentson Buckner
    DT - Kris Jenkins
    RE - Mike Rucker
    OLB - Will Witherspoon
    MLB - Dan Morgan
    OLB - Mark Fields
CB - Terry Cousins (slides to Nickle slot when Nickleback is in affect)
CB - Ashley Ambrose (this is the only concern is whether we can afford him too.)
    FS - Deon Grant
    SS - Mike Minter

    Other:
    WR(during 3 reciever sets) - Steve Smith
CB(Nickle) - Dante Wesley (he plays outside... Cousins inside)
K - Shayne Graham (saves money and solid enough to replace Kasay)
P - Todd Sauerbrun (hopefully he can be signed a little longer)
KR - Steve Smith & Michael Bates
    PR - Steve Smith

    Explanations:
We hopefully play the hometown card with Davis and Collins, and can get them with out TOTALLY killing us... Brockermeyer gives us a cheap upgrade over Tuten... we give up our 1st 4th round pick and or 1st round pick to the Vikes for the 7 slot... Dallas Clark is hopefully there at our second pick... he fits our offensive scheme... he's primarily a blocker that can catch on occassion... not many changes on D except the addition of Ambrose... we gain extra money by cutting Gilbert, Walls, and Kasay, not resigning Nesbit or Howard, and from Steussie, Muhammed, Minter, and Cousin altering their contracts to free up cap space.

This team would be in the playoffs.

    Offense:
QB - Rodney Peete (Resign) later in the year start Dave Ragone (drafted in the 2nd round)
RB - Lamar Smith ( hope Foster is healthyand still draft Willis McGahee in the 3rd)
    FB - Brad Hoover
    WR - Mushin Muhammed
WR - Orande Gadsden (free agent)
    WR - Steve Smith
TE - John Allred (free agent)
    LT - Todd Steussie
LG - Doug Brzezinski (free agent)
    C - Jeff Mitchell
RG - Mo Collins (free agent)
RT - Jordan Gross (drafted 9th overall)

I would just change the Offense I'm happy with the rest the way it is.

QB - Carson Palmer (Delhomme, Peete) - traded Moose and our #1 this year
RB - Stacy Mack (cut Lamar - less miles than retreads Davis & Smith) - back-up is the best available RB - 2nd round pick
FB - Greg Comella (if he gets cut)
TE - Wesley Walls (he gets healthy, give Mangum one more year)
WR - Marcus Robinson (cut by Bears - played at USC)
WR - Germane Crowell (Virginia boy)
<draft one in the 3rd round, since Rodgers & Johnson would have been long gone even if we held the #9>
RT - Big Cat Williams (if Bears cut him)
    RG - Nesbit
    C - Mitchell
LG - Mo Collins (FA from Raiders)
    LT - Steussie

K - Graham - Kasay has been great, but no more injuries
    P - Back-up LB Sauerbrun

    KR/PR - Steve Smith
    KR - Bates

Only addition to the D would be Al Harris, CB, Eagles.

    I prefer smaller additions:

    QB: Jake Delhomme
    RB: Stacey Mack
    WR: Muhsin Muhammed
    WR: Derrius Thompson
TE: Kris Mangum (can't have it all in one year)
    LT - Steussie
LG - Vince Manuwai (2nd round)
    C - Mitchell
    RG - Mo Collins
    RT - Ryan Young

    DL - Usual suspects
    SLB - Fields
    MLB - Morgan
    WLB - Witherspoon

    CB - Terry Cousin
CB - Trufant/Newman(only if God smiles on the Panthers, which aint happened yet)
    CB - Dante Wesley

S - same as last year
