there's a suggestion that Peppers was given similar academic considerations as the more recent scandal, which would make a person wonder how far back it goes and whether it goes into basketball.

I don't know if it really matters. But, either Peppers is dumber than we thought, lazier than we thought, or has a learning disability no one diagnosed.

It doesn't. That franchise QB everyone loves bought stolen merchandise and put his name on someone else's test. I'd also place my money on dumber.

He's not dumb, he just skips questions that he doesn't feel like answering.

Its more of an indictment of UNC and their "high academic standards". Nothing people love better than reminding some of their haughty alums or fans(which btw if you never attended the school, or any school for that matter you look stupid talking down to any other fan) of their fall from grace.

99% of these guys couldnt do a normal courseload at any university. Do you really think Smitty pondered the complexities of the universe over lattes at Utah? Is UNC any different than every other school, no. But the fact is when all the Butch Davis shit went down they led people to believe the academic fraud started with that regime and it makes people awful suspicious that it would appear that a player before that staff was in place took the exact same classes in the summmer that the Davis regime kids did. Something stinks in Chapel Hill and its deeper than the athletic department.

[IMG] Hardly. All this means is that athletes aren't held to the same standards as other students, which should hardly be a surprise. When I was at UVA in the mid-90s there were several football players in my suite whose "tutors" would drop off completed assignments for them. And these guys were just on the team, they didn't even play yet. So much for the school's vaunted honor code.
