    No, I'm saying the Marlins put together a competitive team on the lowest payroll in the majors. They got "more bang for the buck" than most of their MLB counterparts. Until this year, the Yankees weren't getting the best return on their investment. They overspent every year, & finally achieved what they always set out to do:buy a championship!

    I think the Yankees won 20 world championships before they even had free agency.So they actually won championships more often before free agency came into effect.

    You probably want to take a look at how the pay system worked then....Yankees bought every farm prospect as well.

    The Cubs actually had the 3rd highest payroll in baseball in 2009.A lot of good it did them.Not even a playoff appearance.

    The Mets had the 2nd highest payroll in baseball in 2009.They had one of the worst teams in MLB this past year.Spending lots of money doesn't mean automatic success.
