    Given the calls against the US team I can see why folks think that way. Of course, there were bad calls against other teams as well. I don't think it's rigged, just needs better refs and goal replays.

    the other thing people dislike are when players cry and contort their bodies in faux pain if their toe gets stepped on. then when they get a call, they pop back up like nothing happened. Beautiful game, my ass. it's staged, fake bullshit.

    Players fake stuff in lots of sports. NBA players flop. College players feign injury so someone else can shoot freethrows, football players lay on the ground to buy some time, etc. They do it in soccer because there is no replay and they get away with it.

    True, but nothing comes anywhere close to what those kickball guys do.

    I actually like it when they act like they just stepped on a grenade or got shot in the chest. Makes soccer entertaining.

    What is this balloon you speak of? I'm not exactly a huge soccer fan but I did watch the US matches and I'm not naive enough to think soccer is the only sport in which players fake injury. I think it's asinine as well and believe instant reply will take care of the problem.
