    Yeah I know.

But I am wondering WHY it is like that. I mean... all those euro-folks moved to America during the last century. They brought pizza, hotdogs, hamburgers and "kindergartens". What the heck about football ("soccer")?

When did (american) football, baseball, hockey and basketball establish?

"Soccer" seems to be quite young in its modern form. Only a little about 100yrs I guess.

At least baseball is kinda very old indian stuff, right?

PS: I don't like "soccer" that much, too. I only watch Euro- and World-Cups. Usually I don't like all those "ball-sports" (dunno how you call it). I prefer sports where pistons are pumpin' instead. (Yeah I stole three words from a Queen-song *lol*) :satana:

i would really like to have a good USA squad to get behind and follow in this thing. i never watch soccer unless its the olympics or world cup. its different, kinda fascinating with all the different teams from all around the world and the crazy fans like solarte said. but we are so shitty. so terribly inept. i was listening to somebody on the radio today and they said that our best player could'nt even make the team on most of the European and S. American squads. we dont stand a chance. these foreign guys are killers at soccer. we have not won a world cup match in Europe, ever. bad news and Italy awaits us on Saturday.

come on shitty American soccer dudes! win a game! :woohoo:

Also baseball, basketball, and football have one huge thing in common...they were all invented in America. Soccer was created in Europe, and also it is so boring. A "Good" soccer play is setting a person up to score a goal and have them hit it over the net and almost scoring. Since when is 2-0 in any sport considered a pretty sound beating...only in soccer or maybe Hockey, but at least in hockey you can check people and you carry around big sticks and there's fights. In soccer if you kick someone in the shin (they all wear shin guards mind you) they collapse on the ground like they've been shot, and get taken off on a stretcher. I mean, it is the World Cup and unless you are dying, pulled a hammy bad, or broke a bone you should be in the game. I just can't take all the flopping and rolling around on the ground after getting kicked in the shin or getting stepped on

Some countries are notorious divers. Kinda why some foreigners struggle in the premiership in England. We dont want the play acting in our game.
But in this World Cup its a rule that anyone rolling around has to stretchered off the field and wait to be allowed back on by the ref. It's supposed to curtail players diving by making them play down a man for a minute or two.

On the plus side, its a fast paced game with little interuptions or timeouts.
Most of your american sports seem to take between 3-5 hours for a game with 60 mins on the clock.

PS. Can people please print Spoilers when they're gonna talk about todays games. Im DVR'ing the games to watch tonight.

Wasn't it an American who said "Not failure, but low aim, is crime!"?

    ;)

(I love this quote because it's a great explaination of what you guys became within about only 200yrs... and I don't mean global warming... talkin' about values, innovations, technologies and stuff)

I can't believe anyone actually watches soccer. I'd rather watch 2 cock-roaches screw.
