I think we got lucky last World Cup. Portugal always plays badly and the pieces fell just right for us to barely advance and we got to face a team in the first round of 16 that we had beaten before. The U.S.A is extremely overrated (as is every team that plays in Concacaf). Italy is going to absolutely beat us into the ground.

Hey guys... next time you will win!

(I hope it. I really do!)

Australia VS. Japan was really great. Dammit... I was sooo afraid Japan would win when they shot the goal... which shouldn't have been counted at all. First goal in a WorldCup and first time winner. I enjoyed watchin' this happen. Great job, "Socceroos". :)

I'm wondering if we (Germany) will be able to beat Poland on Wednesday...
    Guess we will... hrhr...

Appear to me USA get their lofty #5 ranking because they match up well with Mexico, ranked #4 i believe. But they have no star power at all. McBride is serviceable, thats about it.

Germany really shocked me against Costa Rico, didnt look like a struggling side, except for the offside trap of course. Klose is Gert Muller special me thinks. Maybe a matchup with the old enemy in round 2?

The USA V Italy mathc could be just as ugly. Shame they play Ghana last, they'll probably be out before then.

If Poland struggle as bad as they did against Equador they will. I thought Poland would have won that game. Bit of a shocker there.

How about Trinidad and Tobago. It was awesome to see them celebrating when they tied. Reminded me of when the Irish tied England 1-1 in our first World cup.

The only reason the U.S. is ranked so high is they play teams like Panama, Granada, and Trinidad and Tobago in their Qualifying matches. North America and the Caribbean suck at soccer. Mexico got lucky with their draw. The U.S. won the Concacaf and get a lower seed than Mexico who came in second and they got a #1 seed. The U.S. also got their ass kicked by Germany 4-1. It's just playing in North America gave them an inflated record.

However... you were not that bad 4yrs ago.

For a country were nearly no one gives a fuck about "soccer" you are still great.

(Wondering why it is that unpopular... doesn't the majority of you guys have german or british roots? ;) )

It is not popular for a few reasons...it doesn't have the kind of money and fame that other sports can bring in this country and that is what kids see growing up. It is boring and gets no TV play. It won't get you laid in high school like football, baseball, hockey and lacrosse will.

All our best athletes play the above mentioned sports once they are old enough to choose what they want to play. If we took all the best athletes out of the NFL, NBA, MLB and had them play soccer their entire lives, no country would beat us ever. That will never happen because soccer is boring and gay.
