That's wrong... the title is pure out Tar Heel hating... a number of others got cut, and nothing mentioned. Furthermore Sean May made the team yet there was no mention of that. I think its great Withers made it, but there's no need in the McCants/Tar Heel hating.

Read a blurb the other day where everyone was raving over Withers. Coach Sampson was calling him Ben Wallace Jr. - said thats how tough he was playing inside.

It looks like May is gonna make it, too. Skip is really lobbying for his Deacons. They're gonna place two on the team. E Williams is getting cut soon.

I can't believe what I am reading. You can't tell me that McCants isn't better than Hassan Adams, Shannon Brown, PJ Tucker, and Justin Gray for that matter. McCants is the best player in the ACC and probably top 5 in America.

I am also ECSTATIC for Withers!!! He truly is deserving of a spot and I hope he earns it. He is hands down my favorite player in college hoops and is finally getting the accolades he deserves. This will be his last year at Charlotte, so hopefully the Niners will make it a good one (consistently top 25).

By the way, didn't Reddick try out?? Was he cut? I hope so haha

Perhaps it is Brain, but he was the only player with a local connection cut. This is also the 49ers' forum, not the Hoops forum. There's also no need for a UNC Charlotte graduate like yourself to continually put down the institution every opportunity you get.

For the record, the first cut:
    Rodney Carney,F, 6-7, 205, 2006 Memphis / Indianapolis, IN
    Demetris Nichols, F, 6-8, 205, 2007 Syracuse / Barrington, RI
    C.J. Watson, G, 6-2, 175, 2006 Tennessee / Las Vegas, NV

And the second cut you say isn't mentioned in the story, but really is:
The three players who did not make the finalists roster include Aaron Brooks (Oregon / Seattle, Wash.); Rashad McCants (North Carolina / Asheville, N.C.) and Curtis Sumpter (Villanova / Brooklyn, N.Y.).
    Aaron Brooks, G, 6-0, 160, 2007 Oregon / Seattle, WA
    Rashad McCants, F/G, 6-4, 207, 2006 North Carolina / Asheville, NC
    Curtis Sumpter, F, 6-7, 220, 2006 Villanova / Brooklyn, NY

I didn't put UNCC down at all. Quite the contrary I said "kudos to Withers". I just didn't think the McCants blurb was necessary. And as far as me talking any other junk about the Niners, notice I don't do it anymore since metro has left. I like Charlotte, but metro just pissed me off so much I HAD to use 49 smack talk as sparring material.

    What he said!!!

HP, you bitch about the UNC fans and we have left you guys alone. But you seem to take your little jabs at UNC any chance you get. You really need to decide which road you want to take, the high or the low, but don't try the middle.

You can put any type of spin on it and call it local news if you want, which could be true, hell the Star may be hiring as well you would fit in nicely.

Personally, I think McCants is a punk, regardless of who he plays for. I'm glad he was cut. That he plays for a team that is too scared to play us is just gravy.

Brain, we've already had this discussion several times. I think it's one thing to be like chisox and like both of these schools while attending Charlotte. It's quite another to deny your alma mater in favor of a bandwagon club. It's the one thing about you that bugs me. We'll always be arguing about it unless you see the light, 'cause I'm sure none of the Charlotte grads are budging. Too much pride & way too stubborn.

Back to the usual rants I guess.
