I am currently with Sprint and I live in Raleigh. To say that my service sucks is an understatement. My company is based in SoCal and gave me the phone...

anyway, my territory is five states (wv va nc sc tn)... What service is the best for this???

    ATT
    Cingular
    Sprint
    Verizon

I wanted to go back to Alltel, but my company doesn't have an account w/ them... so which of the above is best???

    Thanks!

Those two are rated tops in the nation for service...Sprint was dead last...good thing I'm not with sprint anymore:) It's just the idiots with cool phones and bad service who go with sprint nowadays

My company just switched from AT&T to Verizon. With AT&T, I got just about all of my calls, but the signal was often really lousy to the point that it was distracting. I also had a lot of drop-outs. I've had Verizon for about a month, and so far I like the service better. I have more missed calls, but the signal of the calls I get is clearer. Honestly, I'd rather a customer get my voicemail than for me to connect with them and not understand a word they say. My territory is Virginia and down, and I spend about half my time in RTP. The only problem I've had is in SC, between Augusta and Columbia. I can barely hear the person on the other end there, but I had the same problem with AT&T. I should also mention that we upgraded our phones,so TIFWIW. Also, I use to have AllTell. Once I left North Carolina, not only would I not get calls, but I wouldn't get a missed call message either. Other than that, the signal kicked ass (at least locally). That was a couple years ago though.

Verizon has the better coverage area... they haven't completed the full digital changeover yet so a lot of the area is still analog based signal, but it works in nearly twice the area AT&T does... in NC the coverage area for phone service ranks like this

    1. Verizon
    2. Alltel
    3. AT&T and Sprint
    4. Cingular
    5. Nextel

    Verizon for CDMA technology.
    ATT for GSM technology.

If data is important, then Verizon.

ps I am with Cingular and would not recommend them until BellSouth buys out SBC's stake because that side of the company has ruined Cingular.
