Some advice: Don't plan to use it an a primary operating system for quite a while yet. 64-bit hardware drivers are sparse (including even no drivers for the MS Office keyboard, or Logitech mice ;), many 32-bit programs don't work either, and the ones that do work run no faster than they do on 32-bit XP. No 16-bit apps or games work at all on x64.

When 64-bit apps show up, it might be worth upgrading. But right now, it isn't even worth playing with.

The good: Install works great, just make sure you have 64-bit drivers on floppy for any RAID arrays or disk subsystems - old 32-bit drivers will not work. There is a 64-bit version of IE, but no 32-bit plugins or additions will work on it. Windows update won't work on the 64-bit IE, but they also include a 32-bit version. Both suck really bad in comparison to Firefox anyway ;)

If anyone here does something that benefits from x64, sure they should use it right now as their primary OS. Plenty of hardware is supported, and a HUGE portion of machines have the right CPU already (given the huge sales of the AMD Athlon64).

For instance, big graphics file manipulation or CAD drawings can take a HUGE amount of RAM and do a TON of calcs, hitting the two main reasons for a 64-bit OS...
