Carolina Panthers open to trading DeAngelo Williams - Cat Scratch Reader

I mean, I guess we knew it was coming. At this point, it gets done. He's gone, and we all pretty much know it. I just hope we can fetch more than a late rounder for him, and hope it goes to an AFC team.

    Sigh.

Gonna be sad to see him go. He is the team's best back, despite many believing Stewart is.

Yeah, I don't think they could trade him now even if they wanted to because of the cap hit.

Would that cap hit be OURS?

You mean, if we trade him, we absorb almost a ten million dollar hit?

Trading a player accelerates the bonus money as if you were cutting them pre june 1.

$9.6 mil. He is due to count $8.2 mil against the cap this year so if we got enough back in the trade, MAYBE it's worth it. Probably not though.

No, but if it's only a $1.4 mil difference then extending Gross or restructuring someone else would create enough room.

Restructuring would not make the unallocated bonus money go away. that is here to stay.
