Will Fox and Hurney be back? It's time to let us know, Mr. Richardson

What coaches would have done better this year? Maybe the Pats and Colts would have done worse than 7-9 with their 4th qb playing?

 

Really the 5th qb since nobody expected Basanez to be out for the season either

But Fox is like a RB who averages 150+ yards per game and 3 fumbles....

He has a good sense of relating to players, and good basic coaching skills - that's like the 150 yds; then you throw in his stubborn streak a mile wide (won't even consider giving players like Williams and Moore a look when it's obvious the performance by others in their positions is in free fall), his refusal to adapt to the roster's weaknesses (repeatedly runs plays that just can't work with our personnel), and the play-not-to-lose mentality ("a punt is not a bad play") which just about guarantees losses - that's like the fumbles.

Is he capable of changing the attitude problem? Hey, Tiki Barber corrected the fumble problem...

I hope they give Fox another year to see if he get things straightened out. I don't know where they would find anyone else that would SO much better that it would make a difference. As for Hurney I'd replace him or promote him to another job where he had no say in personnel or signing players to contracts. I've said it before, we need better people in personnel/scouting than we have now. You can't always have a hit with a draft pick but we've seemed to have a lot more misses than hits.

 

Richardson did talk to the press. He told Collinsworth that they are staying. There is no story.

IMO there were some in the local media that played a large role in running the Hornets out of town. They turned the Jenkins thing into a much more awkward situation than it had to be. They will chew you up and spit you out if you let them. I wouldn't give them a morsel either.

He's making a joke about last year.

 

It was a Marty Hurney quote. If you say "we sucked this year because we lacked depth, including at the QB position," then you have to ask "why did we lack depth?"

Basically, no matter the reason for the disappointing season, the buck still stops at the feet of Hurney and Fox.

 

If the Gazette were relevant, maybe they could issue a statement on why Steve Reed is still around.
