why does my computer

    the board is shorting. I built one a few years ago that was missing one of the copper contacts on the corner and it would do the same thing. I reseated the board and it was fine. Also, on the one I have now sometimes the On/Off button sticks and it will restart on its own until I unstick the button. I can feel it stick when I turn it on though, so it is predictable.

    If you have a application with a memory leak, the system will restart itself.

    Might want to check the fan, too. If the computer gets overheated, it will restart, although if you have the right software you'll get a notice.
