Maybe they see Davis as a safety?

heard a lot of talk over the last few days about Johnson that I didn't like. Maybe the talk was wrong but I'm happy with Davis.

About Johnson's tackling ability mainly. Scouts and coaches talked about him trying to knock people off their feet without wrapping them up, which is ok in college but ain't going to work in the pro's. I'm surprised the Panthers passed him up but I'm happy with Davis if they leave him at S.

maybe they just like his versatility. At this point they've got potential weaknesses at both SS and OLB next year, with no future at FS either; and have no one other than Fields who can adequately cover a TE. He's a football player and it'd be great to have a blue chipper at one of those spots.

I am good with that. I do not see this helping with our free safety outlook though cause I doubt Davis will ever have the coverage ability to play free safety in the NFL. He might be a great strong safety though or a weak side linebacker. I am not sure he will be big enough to play strong side but who knows. Like you said though he is a good player. Looks like they really went for BPA instead of a definate need pick.

NO BODY wraps up in the NFL anyway, but the knock on Johnson was that he tends to over pursue and rely on his speed to make up the difference which he can't do in the NFL. Control is just as muvh the issue as missed tackles.

I'm fine with this pick, find him a spot and let him make plays. The Johnson vs. Davis will be 2nd guessed from now on. We got a football player for sure, though.
