My concern isn't so much about him as it is regarding our owner's decision making process as it applies to football.

I don't know where this narrative started but it annoys the fuck out of me. The Briles situation was a public relations nightmare but it didn't even have any NCAA ramifications, which is why Jim Grobe was able to step in after Briles and go 7-6 in 2016. Baylor didn't suck until Matt Rhule got there, going 1-11 in 2017. Rhule then went 7-6 in 2018 and 11-3 last year. But winning eleven games at Baylor doesn't make Rhule special, as Briles did it in 2013 and 2014 while also winning ten games in 2011 and 2015. People talking about Baylor as if it was some reclamation project are ignorant of the school's recent football history. Yes, the school earned a terrible reputation among the general public because of the rape scandals, but football players don't give a fuck about any of that.

Again, I don't know that Rhule is going to fail but the reasons people come up with for justifying him (fans tout his one year as an assistant offensive line coach, Tepper likes that he's a shitty dresser and worked as a cook) are such utter horseshit that it makes me wonder if there is anything legitimate about him. And filling out his staff with a bunch of his buddies from college is just making me that much more nauseous. Until Rhule proves that he is a capable NFL head coach, fuck that guy. And until Tepper proves that he's a competent NFL owner, fuck that guy too.

To those of you still on this train, I sincerely applaud your resilience. For me, giving up on the Panthers and the NFL in general was a freeing experience and I have David Tepper to thank for that. You can talk yourself through bad drafts or bad contracts or even bad coaches, but when the owner is a narcissistic fuckup, that destroys the hope that things will get any better and allowed me to move on.

His flirtation with Deshaun Watson, a sexual predator who isn't even a great quarterback, was beyond embarrassing. And while I love soccer (I've supported Ajax for 28 years), him owning Charlotte F.C. eliminates even the slightest temptation to give a shit about them either. The Carolina Panthers are well and truly fucked unless Tepper gets bored of his vanity project and sells them, which probably won't ever happen since an NFL franchise is the most prestigious thing his billions can buy.

It's more of a slow bleed for me, but I'll eventually get there on this trajectory.

I'm usually hate-watching the team by December. Went to one game last season, preseason vs Baltimore, but left at halftime because the experience was so shitty. Tepper has turned BOA stadium into a giant casino. It reminded me of the Pottersville alternate reality from It's A Wonderful Life.

It's becoming exponentially harder to support this bullshit.

    From a strictly football sense:
Bad owners think they're good owners suffering from bad luck.

Haslam was so close to turning a corner, but shitty owners will always default back to doing shitty things.
