I would think that Seward is Morgans backup. He is fast into the gap, doesn't always stay on his feet but he is in the right place and helps clog things up.We will need a sub at MLB if Morgan is true to form.

I would trust Draft on the edge. He has the experience to read and stay home more than Sewart. I thimk we will be alright there.

    It's Lucas we will miss.

That was my thought too. Maybe Manning won't turn the wrong way or forget to look for the ball if he plays.

Do we have a really shitty trainer or something? Why do we lose half our roster over the course of a season?

Reed says Draft. Gantt says choo choo. We'll see who knows the team.

<<EXTRA POINTS: If Will Witherspoon (knee) isn't able to go today, the team will likely run Vinny Ciurciu out there in his spot.

Though small in stature (the 6-foot-0 he's listed at in the media guide is a bad joke), coaches love his willingness to stick his head in there. He was often swallowed up playing in the middle last year behind Dan Morgan, unable to get away from bigger blockers (which were all of them).

But a move outside gives him more room to operate, and he's shown signs of being able to make the occasional play there, as he does in space on special teams.

The Panthers have versatile veteran Chris Draft as an insurance policy, but look for Ciurciu to get the nod if Witherspoon can't play. ...

That's not necessarily true. Tufts, Ciurciu, and Seward all moved around between W and M in preseason, Seward was the one who came in for WW, and I'd expect it to be Draft who starts.

Panthers | Witherspoon won't Start; Seward Will
    Sun, 25 Sep 2005 06:59:54 -0700

According to FOXSports.com's John Czarnecki, Carolina Panthers LB Adam Seward will start the team's Week 3 game in place of injured LB Will Witherspoon (knee).

Panthers | Ciurciu could Start Week 3
    Sat, 24 Sep 2005 22:30:52 -0700

Darin Gantt, of the Rock Hill Herald, reports Carolina Panthers LB Vinny Ciurciu could start the team's Week 3 game - if LB Will Witherspoon (knee) isn't able to go. The Panthers have versatile LB Chris Draft as an insurance policy, but look for Ciurciu to get the nod if Witherspoon can't play.

Now if someone predicts Draft to start for Spoon they have the bases covered.

You can depend on the insiders.

See post #9 of this thread:

"Chris Draft is more experienced and likely to get the start."
