lots of guys go coach elsewhere. if you break up with a chick she is going to date someone else, if she wants to.

probably with Weis, Davidson, Skipper, Meeks in tow.

As it stands now I find no way we'd have Weis on staff next year.

Certainly. Which is fine, if you decide Fox isn't the coach anyore you're done with him. But then you have to go get a guy better, not just "hey he's not Fox."

My point in saying he can coach somewhere else if he wants to is that he is a competent NFL head coach. The odds of replacing him with someone better are not good. Certainly we can replace him.

yeah that's my issue too. If we can do better than Fox, do it. I don't think it'll be easily done.

The hard part is I feel like the most immediate shot at a title would be with a guy like Shanahan. Long term, we'd be no better off. Young guys offer a higher shot at being good long term but offer the biggest bust potential.

Truthfully, veteran coaches who haven't won a ring seem to give you the best shot, but that's on the basis of only Belichick, Dungy, Coughlin. Which would leave us hoping for a JDR type cut. And I don't see the level of solid veteran coach getting fired that we'd need. Too many veteran guys out there already.

i dont necessarily think Fox needs to go, but i do think Davidson does. the problem i have is with Thelts argument of holding on to a guy because he may go somewhere else, that doesnt make any sense.

The point I was trying to make was not that we should keep him so he can't go somewhere else. The point was that he is a quality NFL head coach as evidenced by the fact that other teams would like to have him. It is not like he is a scrub who will not get a sniff once we let him go because the rest of the league agrees that he sucks.

There are only a handful of guys that I would rather have here than Fox.
