    and their worth.......

Are they worth more or less than what a replacement would be?

Ie... do they appreciate or only in the case of a certain model being discontinued?

I have an Ovation that I've had for almost 20 years, that I want to replace with a Takamine. When I think about pricing it to sell, I'm not sure what a fair price is. One like it on Ebay is almost 1900 dollars but I didn't pay near that much for it. My brother wants it, but I don't want to be unfair to him, but especially me, he has more money :D.

Depends on the make and model. An Ovation is a good guitar...the lesser copy...the Applause...would probably go down in value.

I'd say Ebay is a good way to value it. Something is worth whatever someone will pay for it!

I need something smaller, the bowl on the Ovation makes my shoulder hurt because my arms are short. My friend I used to play with has Takamines and I alwasy loved playing them. I would be open to any suggestions you have. I just want something with a decent sound that chords easily. I only use it for personal enjoyment, I don't play anywhere but home.

I've had one for 12 years and the twelve string for 11 years. I love them both, dearly. Go play a few, I don't really care for the newer ones. Maybe I'm just playing the shitty ones, though. Good call getting rid of the Ovation, they sounds great but the plastic round thing grinds my gears.

Keep your ears open for an older one for sale. I don't want to do the Ebay thing, I want to buy from someone I know- or someone I know knows. And actually it's going to be a while before I start looking seriously. Please and thank you.
