What's the best gym in Charlotte?

    I haven't been there yet, but there is new place called the South End Athletic Club which I bet is probably the nicest. They've got plasma TV's and some new type of resistance machine. I think they give two week trial memberships which I might try out.

    The Central Y has to be the worst gym of the ones I go to...old equipment, dirty, muggy, full of freaks....

    it was awesome compared to the Y here in tallahassee.

    yeah...most Y's throughout the country are dumps....Charlotte is lucky that way.

    When finished, the Ballanyne Y that they are adding on to will be the nicest...followed by the Harris. The only thing I hate about the Harris is that it is full of high school kids and the parking lot.

    next to South End Brewery. Real nice, it's got those free range machines and plasmas everywhere. A bit too "South End" for me.

    I assume that Peak Fitness is doing pretty well since I've seen about 76 new ones around town in the last few months.

    I'm a Peak girl myself...(well, when I actually have the motivation to go). I go to the one on Tryon in University...it's pretty nice. New equipment, and not many scary people around.

    Peak in harrisburg is where i go. its nice, new equipment, basketball court, cardio room with projection dvd on the wall. lots of college girls to look at. but, please, do not join. its a little crowded sometimes.

    The Y in Asheville is nasty. The Greek goes to the Y in Charlotte. I'm sure he does it for the same reason fags in Asheville go to the Y up here. I go to Vision Sports in Asheville and it's great. The cleanest and nicest gym I have EVER been to is Phiefer Wellness Center in Morganton in front of Grace Hospital.
