1.This aint Fox's team anymore. No way Cam goes #1 overall under John Fox. Which makes watching the draft a little more intriguing at least until we figure out Rivera's routine.

Now that Cam is the guy my attention turns to the contract. I hate the pick, but if there were a way to have a rookie cap, that would lesson the blow, but it appears that we will be using the 2010 financial model which would at least imply that Newton will command something north of the 50Million that Bradford got which really enrages me. :smiley_beatin_horse

    2. The Panthers are officially unpredictable offensively

    3. We will be horrible in 2011, not sure that would have changed either way

    4. The Falcons were desperate and sold their sole for a guy who had a broken foot, but who could annihilate us for a decade.

    5. We will finish no better than 4th in the division baring pure dumb luck, for the foreseeable future.

We also learned that Rivera said a few times, that the offensive staff was going to not only scale down the playbook, but add in plays that benefit Newton. We heard him talk about naked boots, he talked about that kind of dynamic not only helping Newton see the field better, but helping the run game, while specifically mentioning DeAngelo Williams.

I think I fell in love with our HC a little yesterday listening to him speak about coaching around player strengths. I think I'm a little excited about this. I think, at this point, I'm confident Rivera might just be a more rounded, better HC than John Fox, and God willing, we might have some winning seasons (also back to back) here in a year or two.

We also learned that all of the "Offensive" minded coaches passed on all the QB's in the 1st round and the "Defensive" minded one's went for the QB. Not sure that say's anything for sure, but speculation is that the Offensive guys know the QB's in this draft were too bustable to touch.

A lot to do with need, and I feel more comfortable that ours was not as much of a reach as others. Locker might turn out to be great along with Ponder, but Cam Newton was going to go very high no matter what.

Looks like the Panthers and Jags are at it again. Newton vs. Gabbert.

In five years, we'll see who reigns king.
