I think coaching in the NFL takes a huge strain on those dedicated to it. I really don't see the fire in Fox anymore. I wouldn't be so upset if it were the rookies that were just playing bad, but the veterans are making bonehead plays and there seems to be no accountability. When Fox first got here, he said our team was soft, but watching us not able to tackle, block or drive ending penalties tells me the problems are deeper than the rookies playing.

    Spoiled by mediocrity.

Fox is a cool guy, but why would anyone suggest that there is probably no one better than he is that would want this job, and why are people suggesting we can't do better?

He's actually not had a very impressive stay here. He did when he had a quarterback and a few vets in their prime, and since then, he's not re-tooled, not shown he can coach younger players, and had a pretty average run.

He's a December guy, which I LOVE about him, and I think that's what we all like, and should like...I'm just as scared we're going to wind up with a Childress too. I have to believe Richardson is going to be thorough. I have to believe we'll replace Foxy with someone who is a damn good candidate.

Man, I love Foxy, but it's his time to go. Been time...

It is really not Fox's job to re-tool. That failure is on Hurney. I am not really sure we have failed to re-tool our talent on the whole. We have just failed miserably at finding a QB. I am certain Fox would have liked to have added a veteran QB this past off season but the team would not do it.

We know Fox can get it done when he has some good players to work with. That is more than you can say for a lot of coaches. Just look at the Cowboys, Chargers, Vikings and Packers to see teams with lots of talent who are not winning.

I don't buy he can't coach young players, he's done well with them as far as I can see. The talented ones anyway.

But... I don't really feel like his protests (more accurately, maybe, the people protesting for him) are valid. Fielding such an uncompetitive team was/is an embarrassment, no question, and it's his job to do better. A lot better than what we saw. As people have noted throughout he year, vets looked totally unprepared at various times. That set the tone, really, starting in preaseason.

As far as vet QB, we've had some, but they stopped the job requirement at vet, forgetting to include successful. Look at the list, a bunch of whiffs, terrible talent evaluation with the exception of Jake, in '03. Can't live off that forever though.

Fox's season long arrogance and reticence to work with what he was given notwithstanding, he's not a bad coach. Come to think of it I'd probably be open to keeping him on and firing Hurney, actually. But if Fox is going, and he is, I'd just as soon clean house and send Hurney on his merry way too. He has to shoulder a lot of the blame for never having a quality vet backup QB, or developing one over these last eight or nine years, however long it's been. And plenty of other shit too.

until this season it has been put forth in the press multiple times that fox and hurney worked in tandem on personnel. so, yes, in part re-tooling is an aspect that fox should be held accountable. does that mean it is all on his shoulders? absolutely not, but the sympathy of him being dealt an unwinnable hand from a defective deck is just as misguided and incorrect.

Maybe Fox had some control over personnel in the past but I do not get the impression that he had much say this past off season. He keeps things close to the vest but even early on he was dropping hints. When we traded Harris he did not seem too happy about it.

I just hate to take the risk. We are going to be moving from a guy we know can win and whose system works when it has the right pieces in place to an unknown. I am confident that Fox would have us winning again soon if we found a decent QB and got some injured players healthy (ie Otah, Davis, DW). I have no idea what will happen with a new coach and given the odds of success in the NFL for new coaches there is a better chance he will fail than that he will succeed.

Fox has always had a say in personnel moves in the past, except for this year. And JR making him a lameduck coach this year no doubt is very questionable and had horrible results (for the team). Personally, I would just as soon JR have fired Fox's ass last year instead of making him lameduck, and then JR shouldve went ahead and hired our next coach, so that we could start the long rebuilding process,,,,,,,,,,,, instead JR pissed away 2010 and we still got that huge mountain to climb yet,,, so for that I disagree with JR.

Listen, you Fox supporters is all nice and everything, and its very loyal of you to be in his corner, but don't go taking too many stupid pills. Sure, Fox has done a lot of very good things for this organization, no doubt he has class,,,, but the fact of the matter is he's only had 3 winning seasons since he has been here. It is clearly time for someone else. At this point we can't do any worse.
