...play Matt Moore with the intention of developing him as a backup. Let him and Basenez push Jake next summer. Let Vinny and Jake be influences more so than McCoy.

...make DeAngelo Williams the primary back.

...make every OL and DL position up for grabs starting today.

I know this is flighty stuff, but its basically time to try a bunch of different things.

As for the offseason, it would be nice if they could find a decent talent scout for finding not only quality drafts but free agents. The Pats have set a scary standard. I'm just amazed no one could find a safety ANYWHERE that was worth a damn.

Add your in-season and off-season suggestions...

I'd like to see Peppers not get stood up by a RB, one on one

On the NFL network this week they were discussing how the Panthers showed some new defensive line fronts against the 49er. One of the plays they used to illustrate it was one where Peppers shifts inside of Lewis just before the snap (I don't know if this is really new but not the point). At the snap everyone pushed upfield other than Peppers who stood there. The problem was he immediately put his hands on his hips and appeared to be just watching. It very well could be that his job was to maintain that spot but he just stood there, knees pretty much locked with his hands on his hips as soon as it looked like Lewis was getting close to Dilfer. It was odd.

Delhomme is the only current QB that will be on the roster next year...

Ehh. I've been hearing this for weeks and while Vinny's playing the way he did last week, Moore should be in - he has a nice ball. I also don't know that we owe him anything specifically toward PT unless he can be the best option for right now. He's really just too raw to get extensive time, IMO.

I liked that we gave him more carries v/s SF and he responded. Don't know why we didn't continue with that. Still, the odd fuckup fumble from Foster or not, he's a bull of a back and just the better player right now IMO. If he could keep the ball in his hands there'd be no question IMO.

Still, we need to get DW more looks, especially on 3rd down.

Interesting, though I don't know what difference it'll make. We already played McClover a fair amount this week, and honestly I don't see much impact; the DTs we all pretty much know. I liked that we didn't push Bridges out there, but don't see why the fuck we played Hangartner. I don't think he's even as good as Mathis. I just don't know that we have depth, outside of Kalil, that matters. And if you're going to eval Moore, it's not necessarily fair to do it while playing around with the line. But I'm certainly for seeing Kalil at center and forcing Hartwig to play a decent guard, because Kalil at guard won't work and he really should be on the field in the future. So, if Hartwig can't be adequate at guard, does he belong?

I do notice that they seemed to start Carter this week (didn't have audio), which is progress. Wouldn't be bad to see a little more of Jarrett.
Don't know what else they could do on D to get youth some time,

People have completely ignored Mark Koncz in their cut list. I don't know where he falls in the loop, but certainly, he's over the guys who are doing the pro scouting, the advance scouting, and so on.

if anybody can figure out what's going on with Peppers they'll be the first ones. this obviously isn't typical for past performance.
